After several weeks of hibernation, the building committee (at least those would were able) gathered today with Fr. Perry and met with a Liturgical Consultant. A very constructive dialog took place and the committee received some needed advice on moving our little project forward.
In the meantime, the diocese has sent out our initial request for proposals to the short list of architects, with a due date of October 31 @ 2PM. From there, we can begin to schedule interviews and listen to their vision(s) for our property.
I know it has been spotty of late but, please keep checking in for the latest info.

Prayer for Vocations
O God, our Father, you have called us in Baptism to follow your Son through lives of loving service to you and to one another.
Grant us your assistance as we seek to liveout our vocation in life. We pray especially for those who have answered your call as priests, brothers, sisters, deacons and lay ministers. Keep them faithful in following your Son and dedicated in serving their brothers and sisters. Grant that many more men and women will be open to the challenge of dedicating their lives in the ministry of building your Kingdom. We ask this through Christ, our Lord.
Amen.

Fr. Perry's Biography
I was born on July 21, 1958 in Fresno and am the oldest of three boys. My brothers and their families live in Fresno as does my mother. My father passed away several years ago. I am thankful for the fact that I have a very close relationship with my family even though they would have preferred that I remain in Fresno !
I attended Catholic elementary school before going to San Joaquin Memorial High school in Fresno . After graduating from SJM in 1976, I went to CSU Fresno where I graduated in 1981 with a degree in Political Science. About the time of my graduation, I discerned a calling to the priesthood and was accepted by the Diocese of Fresno and St. John’s Seminary in Camarillo for theological formation. I was ordained in 1987 along with 2 other men: Fr. Craig Harrison, who is pastor of St. Francis Church and Msgr. Myron Cotta who serves as Vicar General of the Diocese of Fresno.
My first assignment was to Our Lady of Victory Church in Fresno . Following 3 years of service there, I was assigned to St. Philip the Apostle Church where I had the privilege of serving under Msgr. Ron Swett. I enjoyed my time here in Bakersfield where I met many of you and came to learn about the good work that the churches in Bakersfield are doing. From here I was assigned as Chancellor of the Diocese by the new Bishop at that time, Bishop John Steinbock. I also did a stint as Vocation Director of the Diocese. In 1994, I was appointed Pastor of St. Paul Newman Center Church in Fresno . It is located directly across the street from CSU Fresno and has a very dynamic ministry on and off campus for college students. I served there for approximately 14 years until my current appointment as pastor of the new parish here. I have enjoyed 20 years of priesthood and look forward to many more.
I love playing the guitar, spending time at the beach, reading and traveling. I enjoy meeting people and I look forward to getting to know you and many others who might choose to be part of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish.

Beware of the "progressive" Protestant architects. Take a look at the monstrosity in Sanger called St. Mary's. Look at the work of Duncan Stroik and you'll get a truly Catholic worship space that will be beautiful forever.
